Vigilante Comics was formed in 1992 by Mike Longo and Matt Forrestall while students at Everett High School, and the characters that inhabit the Vigilante Comics Universe have existed on the web in one form or another since the the mid 90s. The first major character to inhabit the VCU was Sprinkles the Psychotic Moose, and he was quickly joined by a plethora of other heroes and villains, most notably the heroes of D.O.P.E. (Defenders of Planet Earth).

Our first web presence came about in the form of the Sprinkles the Psychotic Moose site, which was hosted out of BU’s ACS cluster in the mid 90s. Back then the site had a background image of smiley faces that would have rendered many viewers blind. The web was relatively tiny at that time when compared to today, but it did open us up to a wider audience outside of our immediate sphere and showed us that we were not alone in the moose department (I’m looking at you Space Moose).

In 2000 we grabbed sprinklesthemoose.com and it wasn’t until recently that we were able to grab this site, vigilantecomics.com, due to a fortuitous registration expiration.
